Thank You Corporate Partner Volunteers!

03.13.14 | 1pm | Partnerships for Parks

Partnerships for Parks Corporate Volunteer Program enables New York City’s most successful companies to help keep our neighborhood parks beautiful, and on Wednesday, March 5th we celebrated these volunteers with a breakfast in their honor.  Hosted by Deloitte, the Corporate Partner Thank You Breakfast was an opportunity to recognize the significant contributions our partners made to parks last year as well as kickoff the 2014 volunteer season.  Representatives from American Express, Burberry Foundation, Citi, Denihan Hospitality Group, Digitas, Goldman Sachs, ING, ING U.S., Johnson & Johnson, Macy’s, New York Life, TD Bank, and TLM Associates attended.

After a light breakfast, Sabina Saragoussi, Director of Partnerships for Parks, took to the podium and pointed out the many accomplishments the program made last year, including intensively supporting over 500 community park groups. She also acknowledged the major role that corporate volunteers play in engaging and inspiring further stewardship of neighborhood parks.

Alison Tocci, President of City Parks Foundation, spoke about how 2013 was a record-breaking year for the Corporate Volunteer Program.  Last year, over 3,800 corporate volunteers engaged in 75 service projects across the five boroughs, generating over $380,000 for the program.  First Deputy Commissioner of the Parks Department, Liam Kavanagh, admired corporate volunteers’ organization, determination, and team spirit, and also cited the true value of volunteer work by providing needed supplies and materials to under-resourced parks.

In closing, we presented highlights from last season and looked ahead to priority volunteer projects for 2014. Three partners were honored for their immense contributions to parks. Digitas, a new partner, was celebrated for their “Red Hook Revival” project where 400 volunteers beautified three parks on one day.  American Express and ING were also thanked for their long-term, continued support and for serving as a model for other companies to expand their community impact.

The Corporate Partner Thank You Breakfast recognized these and other current partners, as well as created excitement for new volunteer participation in 2014.  In the coming season, the Corporate Volunteer Program is looking forward to engaging our partners in priority projects, such as better connecting companies to community needs and contributing volunteer efforts to support other Partnerships for Parks and City Parks Foundation program areas.

A sincere thank you to all of our Corporate Partners, whose dedicated support and significant contributions ensure that our parks are greener, cleaner, and more beautiful for all.
